Maintenance & Repairs

How often does a pool need to be maintained?

Ideally, your pool should be cleaned and maintained weekly to ensure it remains in good condition and safe to swim in. At the beginning and end of the swim season, it will also require more thorough maintenance and professional opening and closing.

Here at Miller Pools, we offer a variety of pool maintenance packages on a weekly or one-off basis. We can also open, close, and winterize your pool, as well as carry out any repairs you might need.

What pH level should my pool water be?

A pH level between 7-7.6 is considered optimum for pool water. A pH that’s too high or too low can be a safety risk and cause irritation and rashes to swimmers.

The best way to maintain a pool’s pH level is through regular maintenance and this is something we will always monitor as part of our maintenance packages.

My pool is green. What should I do?

Typically, if your pool water has turned green, this means that your pool is growing algae. Algae can damage some of your swimming pool’s features and could even make your pool unsafe to swim in, so it’s important to address the problem as quickly as possible.

There are a number of things you can do to stop algae from forming in the first place, including ensuring your pool’s filtration system is working, regularly testing your water’s chemical levels, using shock treatments, and arranging frequent pool maintenance. You can find out more information on algae prevention

However, if you already have an algae infestation, you’ll need professional help to solve the issue. Our team can help handle any algae problems you’re experiencing so simply get in touch.

How to tell my pool has a leak?

The most obvious sign of a pool leak is if it’s losing water. While a decreasing water level is the clearest indication of a leak, falling tiles, wet spots in your yard, and higher than normal water bills could also be signs.

If you suspect your pool has a leak, get in touch with Miller Pools immediately. We’ll be able to locate the source of the leak and carry out the necessary pool repairs in no time.

Servicing

Can you service my pool if I’m not home?

Yes, absolutely! As long as your pool is accessible and you’ve discussed your requirements with us beforehand, you don’t need to be home when we service your pool.

Why is my pool water cloudy?

Cloudy pool water can be caused by a whole host of factors, from faulty pool filters to low chlorine levels. It’s important to address cloudy water as soon as you notice it, as it can potentially be unsafe to swim in.

You check out our blog post on cloudy pool water for tips on how to fix it, or simply give us a call and one of our expert technicians will be happy to help.

When should you open and close a pool in Pasadena?

To ensure your pool is always ready to use during peak temperatures, it must be properly opened and closed. Most people in Pasadena will choose to open a pool in the spring months of April/May and close it again during late fall to ensure it’s properly winterized in time for the freezing temperatures. However, this can vary depending on the weather that year, so the team here at Miller Pools will be able to advise on what’s best for your pool.

The opening and closing process involves a lot more than just covering or uncovering the water; it encompasses a series of essential maintenance tasks. You can find out more details on our pool opening and closing page.
